about ChipmunkNinja

ChipmunkNinja.com is a place on the Intarwebs for Marc Wandschneider to ramble on about various topics that he finds interesting at any given time (apparently in the third person).

These typically relate to PHP, MYSQL, Apple Macintosh Computers, computing in general, and other random things such as motorcycling, languages and linguistics, or travelling.

about Marc Wandschneider

Born in the steppes of Inner Mongolia, Marc Wandschneider was sold to Horse Traders at the tender age of two months, ending up being raised by Tibetan Yak herders soon after.

Many years later, a German immigrant couple in Canada adopted him, and began the arduous task of teaching him skills that would be critical to his survival in the modern world, such as using a fork, operating the remote control, and learning how to locate the nearest espresso vendor.

After university in Canada, Marc went and worked for Microsoft in the 1990s for nearly six years, working as a programmer and ultimately a manager on various devloper tools. Since leaving, he has spent significant amounts of time traveling the world, learning languages, and working with various open source technologies, most recently PHP and MySQL.

the Book

In October of 2004, Marc sat down and began writing a book for Prentice-Hall called "Core Web Application Programming with PHP and MySQL". He sat in cafes for six months working on it, and the book is complete and available at your favourite bookstore or online vendor.

Writing a book is a surprisingly time-consuming, difficult, and rewarding experience. There is no surer way to make sure you know what you are talking about than to write hundreds of pages on it.
